Seeing Beyond the Obvious: A Walk Along Lake Como

Before continuing my journey to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, I spent several unforgettable days at Lake Como for one of the most meaningful moments of my life—giving my daughter away in marriage to the man she loves. While family was the reason for the trip, photography was never far from my mind. Early each morning, I wandered the shoreline near our boutique hotel with my camera in hand, not searching for the postcard views that everyone photographs, but for the quiet details that many people simply walk past. As photographers, we learn that the most compelling images aren't always the obvious ones—they're often hidden in the subtle interplay of light, texture, reflections, and fleeting moments. Lake Como rewarded that curiosity. Gentle ripples reflected centuries-old architecture, weathered stone pathways told stories of another era, and the changing morning light transformed ordinary scenes into extraordinary photographs. Every step revealed something new, all within walking distance of our hotel.

The images below are a small collection of those discoveries—photographs that spoke to me because they offered a different perspective of this remarkable destination. They remind me that slowing down and truly observing our surroundings often reveals beauty that others may never notice. This visit to Lake Como will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a celebration of family, the beginning of a new chapter for my daughter and son-in-law, and a reminder that some of life's greatest moments happen both in front of the camera and behind it. I hope these photographs encourage you to look a little longer, explore a little farther, and discover the beauty that often lies just beyond the obvious.
